Passing Us By

Tears don’t leave my eyes

Just like me, they’re tired of moving

Like my heart, they’re tired of being broken

For the broken, by the broken, because

We’re all broken, by something, someone

We bleed on those who didn’t hurt us

Cause we won’t fix what cut us

And everyone around us is trembling

Wondering when the tempest will begin

Some of us live with umbrellas up all the time

Sure, we stay dry

But have you ever been drenched

Unafraid of nature, I am recreated

by the creator

I’m broken

But how else could I let the light in?

It’s tragic, for every shattered bit of me

There’s a little seed growing

There’s a little life, beating, breathing

I’ve aborted so many, so many choices

I could’ve made different, I could’ve held on

I’ve kneeled, never winning, never losing

Just passing from one day to the next

Just passing from one body to the next

Just passing from one pain to the next

Just passing from one death to the next

Just passing love by

Just passing us by
