Tears

sandy beaches

bring haunting memory

back to life

midwestern farmhands

entice with sums of cash

but they stole your dreams

it all

happens in a flash

so you run home and bawl

phone lines ring endlessly with support

but you feel so alone

so cold

icy tears threaten

to send heart catatonic

things you never knew you had

suddenly taken away

what little you thought to possess

is so much greater

than even the biggest heart

could ever bear

alone

and aloud you cry

does anybody hear her

she’s asking for a friend

desperate for a savior

before she closes the window

and meets the ground with an array of light

every wild and wonderful color she held inside

splattered, disorganized beauty was her life

will you let me hold you tonight
