My Soul is Departed

There is only so much that enters

Though many of myself departs

There is a clock that’s ticking

And when it stops I stare out the window

A single tear slips away from the river

Slight tears in the castle of the years

They have chiseled at the foundation

Now, I worry I will be nothing

But dust and rubble in a short moment

There’s a hope that the clock never stops

I push the low hanging branches aside

Cutting through the woods to find her

The solace everyone forgets when young

But when the day seems to carry you

Your bones, weary from the work

Beg to be rested one more time

That is when you long for the silence

And though many of myself depart

Maybe a new world will be created

Then I will finally tell the sun outside

To leave me alone

I'm interested in hearing what you have to say
